It’s all fun and games until Doogle does a doodle. Then it’s “Dear Staff’ again. That said and in the spirit of good health, the latest research says that one of the world’s largest and most successful organisations is more than likely on to something. Yet again.
Now the headline I kind of wanted to read was that ‘Tech giant Google builds underground maze of caves so that developers can never find the exit, and everyone is off to jail.’ Admittedly my headspace wasn’t the best and this was mostly down to my own fault. I started a new business with the one aim being it was going to need far less screen time but there was Google demanding a lot of it and their robots were after me at every turn. My ads hadn’t thissed, my website wasn’t thatting properly. They were on every corner and we’re happy for me to make the mistakes first, then kick me while I was down, whilst pointing them out. By the end some googling sniper thing was even in my own mailbox stopping me from talking to myself in my other mailbox. So I was lonely too. I still think it should be my prerogative to have a chat with myself all over the internet if I want to. Anyway, back to the story. The article I actually came across was this…
Did you know? That Tech giant Google actually encourages employees to come to work with their fur pals. These Google dogs… wait for it, “Doogler’s”, play a key role in maintaining employees’ mental health as well as in facilitating cooperation. Now I didn’t make that up, it’s right there on the interwebs. You can Google it. You can Them it.
Thats right. The latest research suggests being allowed to bring your dog or pets to work helps for improved mental health and team work in the work place. This really does further highlight a business that continues to dominate and lead the way. Their creative thinking clearly runs deep. It’s not limited to the tech sphere they are renown for. Open minded thinking and the confidence to step in to the unknown and embrace the latest research is not only the sign of a business that trusts itself but this sure footedness whilst stpping on what are essentially still slippery boulders that have just been revealed is what continues to attract, recruit and retain the best minds in industry. Which is the very thing they need to stay the best in the industry.
As we can all see, it’s paid off and I know this because they told me so when they fed me the article themselves whilst I should have been doing something else that I still can’t remember. The question really is though, how long before the rest of us catch up? Dogs may be a pretty big step for most companies, especially ones, that say make dog food, or a cat stroking business. I’m going to Google that as soon as I’m done here. They also have slobber and hair. Lots of it. And they steal. Stealing in the work place is always a no-no and you’d likely be at the SPCA discussing how you never followed correct protocol and the dog is owed R10k – which, by the way is over smoothies.
But do you know what has never stolen a staff member’s chicken saamie, or left an unwanted package at reception? Thats right! A bicycle. Especially one that blends smoothies. They’re heavy and don’t move – a quick sneaky getaway is just not possible. These are the guys you want visiting your office. Honest players making an honest living!
PS I have 3 rescue dogs and I can also bring these to your office, but I warn you they’re takers, not givers.
